Quick update... Need to get everything back on the roof with the long weekend coming up and my eye on a couple motorcycles 6hrs away haha! Maxxfan is in, holes for the shitty awning install are all epoxied up, and tv antenna ready to be installed. Waiting to caulk everything at once since a tube of 3M 4200 is $25 and will go back in 24hr once the seal is opened. Plus it's less then ideal temp and conditions atm.

Next up is the very scary part of cutting a brand new 19x19 hole in the perfectly good roof!!! I have been putting it off but need to just have at it. Hopefully have it all squared away by tonight.

First picture is me figuring out on top my measurements. Using the trim ring to get close. Second picture is where the skylight/hatch will be on the inside, going to have to relocate the smoke and the one light over. Last is the picture of the two Bomar marine deck hatches I purchased. The other one was supposed to go in the bathroom to replace the junky hatch there but I'm not positive if that's still going to happen.

Fun to see it coming along. I have considered adding a hatch of some sort in the rear-most area of the top tier (where you have your big one), but haven't gone ahead with it. Scott mentioned that his original roof vent was located "back there" as opposed to forward (where the wind-noise-machine vent is located on later 21-ers).

Having it forward is nice for sucking air through the rig. But then apparently there is no rule saying you can't have both

Not to hijack, just to mention... It's a bit odd but I haven't seen any other Chinooks that have the roof holes where mine are. The aircon hole (now a skylight) is first, with the leading edge about 30 inches back from the front edge of the top tier. The 2nd vent is directly above the galley, which is nice for ventilation if dinner goes Chernobyl, but it's rarely used, and although it's basically brand new, it's not very attractive; I might just make it another skylight (glass). With the shower vent and the open upper fridge vent, combined with the cab windows open a few inches, the flow across the coach is great.

You know, I really should make use of the cab windows. I've seen folks make nice little "envelope" screens that slip over the door. I tend to hang a curtain at the rear of the cab and forget it exists when I'm parked But then the ONLY ventilation forward is the forward Fantastic vent.

I'd probably use the cab windows a lot more if they were manual "crank" windows. It just bugs me that yo have to get the keys, put them in and turn them, then power up/down the windows, then take the keys back out. So easy to just turn a crank! One mod I have thought of over the years (since I don't have pets/kids in the cab) is to figure out how to wire the windows so they are "hot" all the time. Or maybe they could be made hot by a manual toggle switch (but independently of the key). I would SO use them if I could just press the button (I don't think it's laziness as much as annoyance that I have to turn on electricity plus make noise just to crack a window).

I have window visors, so that allows me to keep the cab windows open a couple inches even in the rain, and bug intrusion has never been an issue, despite not having any sort of screen.

Those are a great idea! I often camp in fairly bug-free areas, and with these I wouldn't have to do anything (put up/take down). Just crack the window. And I'm not particularly tall, so they may not even get in my visual field. Thanks for the link.

I have a set of rain guards on my rig and love them.

Cleaned up the interior headliner and ready to mount the trim ring.
