Picked up rig after being in shop almost three weeks for brakes/MorRyde Shears. About 15 miles from shop van starts shaking lightly off then on. Shortly thereafter it shook real hard, I was worried the changes created the "death wobble", but usually don't get this in E-series.
Turned around and headed back to repair shop to have them relook at their work thinking they needed to adjust something, just around corner from shop it shook violently and I felt front left tire blow. Here is pic....apparently the belt gave way and shredded tire. Repair place was block away and nice enough to come fix it for me and they are looking at tonight to see if everything OK and due to excessive heat that was present, they are worried about condition of calipers.
The tires have alot of tire tread left but I recently bought rig and tires are quite old, I am in process of deciding on lift and new tires so until new tires get on it this rig will stay grounded.
Glad that you are alright, and it was not too far from home. It would be bad if you are thousand of miles away on a trip when these sort of things happens.
I assume you will soon get the rig back to your house with the spare? Or you are going to leave it in the shop until you got the tire, lift, and the brake all done?

When I pick up rig I'll check date on tires, luckily I was coasting down to 20mph when blew due to it shaking so much. I did have spare and put on, I'll drive home but that's it until I get lift delivered to installer and decide on tires. I know I needed tires but was waiting on few other things first.
I decided on 4" lift and know what I want for front, but for back I am undecided on block, leaf spring or airbag. For a 4" lift a shorter block and add a leaf might be fine, airbag gives ability to adjust ride quality but not sure if necessary.
I sent pics to rear lift folks to see if custom leaf spring can be used with MorRyde, I have conflicting opinions on this.

I'm pretty sure blocks of that height won't work on a DRW Dana 70 E-350. The upper retainer plate will contact the tire. I have to credit Mark Atherton for bringing this to my attention.
I just took this picture (wasn't easy!) but you can see what will happen.

Single rear wheels are different.
Thanks for pic, that is a concern. To avoid this vendor thinks we can go with a 2" block plus gain one inch by adding one add-a-leaf to equal the three inches I'd get after compression of the vendors 4" lift kit. This will also be workaround if I cannot add new leaf spring pak to MorRyde. Before deciding I am meeting with installer to confirm plan, I feel I am being rushed due to necessity of needing new tires ASAP.
If it helps, I just measured the clearance, and even just two inches (block and/or add-a-leaf) would put the edge of that plate within millimeters of the side wall. It looks too close, at least from what I'm seeing on my rig with the current stock-size tires and no MorRyde. More arc would be the way to go ...
BTW, glad nothing horrible happened during your blow out. Good for you that you pay attention to road feel.

Thanks, this whole endeavor is becoming more complicated than I Like, regadless if I do just lift or full 4x4 conversion, I am thinking MorRyde has to go and I just spent $1k on new rubber shears/labor......
