Goodnight
Goodnight
Living in the Southwest,I am an avid reader of Western history....After the campaign by General Sherman)US army to eliminate the Buffalo from the plains as a strategy to weaken the Natives (Sioux, Cheyenne,Comanche,Kiowa etc)and destroy their means of subsistence in nature to bring them into the reservation system....The wife of Charles Goodnight finally called a halt to the destruction with the once innumerable herds down to some 500.She nursed the Bison from extinction to what herds we have today. It is my understanding that the Yellowstone herd are descendants of her and her husband's efforts.I stopped at Goodnight,Texas where the Herd Store sell various Buffalo articles and purchased a Buffalo hide (robe) for my Chinook as a mattress topper par excellance. The Buffalo hide hair is kinda springy and besides being incredibly warm as a blanket as a topper to sleep on it conforms to the back with comfort and allows air to circulate simultaneously.Yes I know I know another expensive Rooney accessory for Chinook.Oh well there is a world beyond Walmart the dollar tree and harbor freight and there dear friends among other things you may find.Rooney 2001 Premier
Re: Goodnight
Cool story. They're awesome beasts. This was Badlands, SD. Glad I wasn't in a tent that night. They were pretty curious. It was fun just to watch them roam...
