LED Light bar

I may have mentioned before, the front mounted motorcycle gets in the way of my headlights. This make night time driving, sketchy at best. I will mount the bike on the back hitch and "dance" around it to use the back door for now.

I bought a Sirius 30" LED light bar. The "standard" model, not the "professional" line. I went with the standard just because the professional was another $150 on top of the already expensive $200 light. I put Sirius in the same category as Rigid Industries led light bars.

I actually bought it through eBay, but the Amazon link will stick around longer I think (and was the price anyway).

The much cheaper generic light bars use "toughened glass" instead of polycarbonate for the lens. They also use some other led chip than "cree". They may or may not be aluminum housings too. The big thing for me was the polycarbonate lens since this will be mounted under my front bumper. This should allow it to project underneath the front mounted motorcycle and out into the road. Susceptible spot for road chips though.. hope the better lens can hold up.

Before purchasing, I asked myself what the differences were between the standard and professional series. Wh do you get for that +$150. There some chart out there that I can't see to find right now, but basically.. it's a different kind of polycarbonate ("AR-1" vs just standard polycarbonate) and a gore-tex breather vent. I was ok with the standard PC, but wanted the vent. So i ordered this:

It came to $30 with shipping/tax. Now, the trick.. to install this without ruining my light!
I'm going to do some more research before anything though.. maybe.. hopefully, I'm not the first to have this idea.

Don't jam that knife down in there too far opening the box. Wouldn't want to scratch that nice new lens. (I got lucky).

Looks to be hand assembled. If you look close at the silicon type stuff they used to seal the lens cover/holder. Gives me an idea about maybe disassembling it to see where to drill the forested vent hole. Hmmmm.. Will think on that while I research.

Also, came with a nice wiring harness (some other places charge extra for this). I'm going to research how I can change the overhead "driving lights" switch to come on with low beams and high beams. I intend to use that switch if I can. The wiring for the positive/negative is much heavier gauge than what was used for the fog light though. Hopefully I can just find the wires for the switch itself and cut out the rest.

Done.
Took an end cap off. Drilled a hole. Epoxied the bresther in place. Put end cap back on with a little extra silicone.

Mounted. Need to figure out the wiring still (hopefully tomorrow).
