Spring Chicken Festival in Gainesville, GA
I was looking for a good excuse to get out of town for a couple of days and I ran across this festival about 90 minutes away. We had a good time trying different chicken dishes prepared by backyard and professional smokers.

If you go to Gainesville, Ga and you like fresh seafood, try the Atlanta Highway Seafood Market. Wow. TripAdvisor rates it the number one place to eat in Gainesville. It's located in a strip center with parking issues but I was able to park the Chinook just fine. Lake Lanier has numerous parks to stay the night but I like River Forks County Park. Very well kept, electric and water at all sites, paved roads and camp sites. The beach is really nice too. I would say that almost every site was water front.

Shoot, I missed a chicken festival!! I'll have to pay more attention cause I would have driven down for it, for sure. Loved the park picture too. How much does it cost to overnight there?

The county park is $20.00 per night and there are several COE parks nearby on or near Lake Lanier.
