Chinook RV

Hello everyone! I have been stalking this forum for a while and finally made an account.

I acquired my 2000 Chinook in Feb this year and I love it! It's my first RV of any sort, ever. Other than having to fix the three way fridge once and the cruise control, everything seems to be working great (the solar panel and/or charger definitely could be updated).

It does seem to vibrate more than I would expect, mainly at speed above 60MPH. It's not REALLY bad, but just enough to be moderately annoying. I did get new tires put on as soon as I got it (thought this would fix it). Still no luck. Had them rebalanced and remounted. No change. Had the tire shop swap them out for a better tire (now TOYO Open Country). Rides a little better, but vibration is still there.

I've seen Blue~Go on here a lot and noticed they had the same problem (from a 2015 thread viewtopic.php?t=163)

If you happen to see this, did you ever figure it out? I'm considering a driveline shop next. I have NOT had it aligned, but I also have little faith this will solve the issue.

Has anyone out there experienced this or resolved it? I can see the passenger seat vibration as I drive along. Doesn't really feel specific to front or rear.

Maybe it's just normal for these rigs to ride a little bumpy/vibrate above 60? I don't have much to compare it to so I'm not sure.

Running about 55 psi all around.

Assuming wheels and tires are good per your post, I would check shocks and bushings. My premier runs smooth and easy to drive.

Mine runs less bumpy since new leaf springs but I never thought it vibrated while driving at any speed. Vibration is odd, is vibration coming from engine compartment or coach? If up front maybe brokem engine mount. Could a torn MorRyde rubber spring cause this?

I feel its coming more from the rear than the front. Shocks and bushings could be it. Mine has bout 80k on it. When does everyone usually service/change these parts?

Check the MorRyde suspension. Maybe it is tore??? My first suspicion is wheel not balanced. Some tire shops are just not good in balancing wheels.

Hi...I own tire/auto store. I'd need more info to give you some idea of what is/are the cause(s). But as a starter, if the vibration starts at higher speeds and then smooths out, it most likely a tire balancing issue. It the vibration is constant at higher speeds but not at idle, I'd rule out motor mount. Alignment issues will give you a vibration in the steering wheel. You could have a drive train issue but I'd like to know what you are experiencing at acceleration from a stop and when you accelerate while driving. What happens when you turn? Suspension...I doubt it based on what you described. After driving is there a lot of heat coming from the brakes?

As you can see your issue could be one or several. Advice...just don't start replacing parts unless you are sure!

Maybe you've solved your problem by now, but if not, here's a thought. I am the 4th owner of a '97 Chinook Concourse on the Ford E-350 chassis. Before upgrading to the Chinook, I ran a '94 Sportsmobile on the Dodge platform for more than 100K. On both rigs I had to install new ball joints and it made a world of difference in handling. I can't say for certain if it has anything to do with your vibration, but if the steering is at all squirrelly, the ball joints should be checked.

I have the same issue. I had all the shocks replaced, front strut rod bushings replaced and steering and tie rod
Assembly replaced. No luck. Truck mechanic said he would check balance and if a wheel was bent. Not sure if
He did an honest job. Since my vibration worsens between 60-70 im inclined to think it is a balance issue. I have not
Replaced my tires, yet. Please post if you resolve your issue.

I have a 98 Concourse and have a vibration in the steering wheel that comes and goes after about 55 mph. I've had it rebalanced twice but it was by the same mechanic. I'll try a tire shop next. Otherwise, it seems fine. It only has about 60,000 miles on it.
