Replacement LED Bulbs for interior Lights

Post by davey307 »

Want to replace my current interior bulbs with LED to conserve power
I have the 1141/1156 type bulbs now.
As I look online I see many different LED bulbs from $10 for a pack of 10 to $20 for 1
Any input on bulbs that you used and had good results to help narrow search

Thanks

I think LED bulb technology is pretty stable now a days, unlike 5 or 6 years ago when you can get a bulb, and it last for only a year and died (GE and Sylvania brands). I would consider the form factor and color for most people, since it can make a difference between if you like or hate it. For me, I am not picky, but for most people, they prefer warmer color. So I don't know if that help you or not, but just get the one that make things you be looking at comfortable to your eyes.

If you have the 1157 type fixtures then I think yep, you can go with a simple bulb replacement. I just can't stand cold/blue looking LED's, so what I'd be looking at is color. The color "temperature" is measured in Kelvin, or "K" and anything lower than, oh, say, around 3700 would be considered "warm white," I believe. Then as the number gets higher you get whiter/colder/bluer. Something like 6000 would be "not warm."

The light output would be measured in lumens - not sure how much selection you will have there in 1157 type bulbs. I looked up what the original fluorescents put out at one time, but I can't remember now

Does that help?
