Quintana Beach County Park

Post by Kirah »

Spent the weekend down at Quintana Beach County Park, a couple hours southwest of Houston, TX. It's a very nice park, quiet and clean, full hookups, with a wide beach that's great for walking when the tide is out. The camping is tucked behind the dunes and a couple of small hills that I suspect are man-made (they're the only hills I've seen right on the coast, and one has an old cannon on it), and boardwalks cross onto the beach at several points. The breeze picks up most afternoons, and you can hear the ocean if you leave the windows open. We pretty much had the beach to ourselves first thing in the morning. Just ... ignore the chemical plants on the other side of the road

I always seem to forget to take a photo of my Premier in its parking spot!

I always enjoy reading a trip report - plus photos of course! Thanks.

I have a friend who lives on the coast a couple hours SW of Houston, and I remember that. Stunning beauty, amazing birds -- but you kind of have to ignore the large chemical plants on the other horizon.

Cute pup! Is that a rat terrier? Or something else, or maybe a good mix :) I love a dog with a split face.

PS: I used to be in the habit of taking a photo of my Chinook (or previous camper van) every day in its camp spot. I've kind of stopped doing that but this inspires me to start again.

She's probably some kind of terrier mix, but she's about 35 pounds with long legs. Could be anything.

Weirdly, I have no good photos of her standing up - probably because if she's on her feet, she's running at top speed

Aha, now I see more what she looks like and her size. Love that face :) Funny but that first photo, with no real scale, I would have believed anything from 20# to 60# probably.

The refineries are RIGHT THERE, but if you get a spot facing the other way, it's easy to turn your back and forget they're there.
