A/C charging port location triton v10

Good evening Chinookers,

I'm looking for the schrader valve on the low side of the A/C in my 1998 Premier. I found the port that the hose will not fit, therefore the high side port, a few inches aft of the radiator on the passenger side, but seek the charging port. Does anybody know where I might look?

Gotta go down I-5 through Oregon and Norcal in a couple of of days and it is usually pretty hot around Redding.

Is it that green-capped port that's just behind/outboard of the transmission fluid dipstick?

I feel your pain. My A/C quit working a while back and when I took it in they did what they needed to do and then put dye in to see if it was a bigger leak and where. About a month later... no A/C. I used a UV light and see where the leak is, and I'll have it repaired by the same shop, BUT I have to drive into deepest, hottest, AZ to do so. I have an errand there anyway, but had planned on gliding in with an ice-cold cab. Guess not.

Hi Blue,
My port to which you refer has a tag on it that says, "Evap service port 1 psi regulated pressure max hand tighten only." That pretty much knocks it out of consideration for the low pressure (30 or 40 psi) A/C port. I see something behind the battery that might be it. Googling shows me little so far.

Coming North a couple of weeks ago on 101 it was rather hot in CA between Willits and Fortuna, so I ran the cabin A/C off the Onan while driving for a while. You will not be doing anything like that in AZ, however.

I figured you would already have seen that cap - unless on the off chance yours was black or something. Rats!

I can see where mine is leaking (used a UV flashlight after dark) and after looking it up on parts sites what looks like small silver elbow that's really accessible just under the hood hinge turns out to be a small silver elbow that is part of a loooong black hose that goes halfway to China. It does have a fitting on it that looks tightenable, so maybe by some magic luck it's only that it worked loose. A/C is something I'm not up to tackling though so I'm leaving it as-is until I get to the shop. Too bad I have to cross the Mohave to get there! Yeah, it's gonna be a hot one. Just think how icy the A/C will feel after that (I'm telling myself.)

Roly, no idea if it is even the correct engine here, but a port finder for a DIY charge kit says:

Hey Blue, not to be environmentally unfriendly, but how fast is your leak? If slow, it might be worth the few dozen dollars to charge it before you drive across the heat to get a proper fix.
