Coach Window mod

I believe it was a comment "Blue-Go" made about his displeasure with the limited travel of the large, side coach windows when it comes to opening for screen ventilation.
The inconvenience of only being able to open the window (slide) for the screen/ventilation (in one direction)... and limited at that, PLUS the issue of rain coming in even when slightly open, got me thinking about a mod that could be doable.
While this is number 438 on my list of Chinook "things to do" (I'm on #6)... I will pursue this mod with the advantage of having most of the RV industry aftermarket manufacturers located in my neighborhood (Elkhart, IN). This will include most window suppliers.
My thought was to utilize the "fixed window with lower push-out opening" feature found on most class B/C designs. The retrofit mod should be easy using the existing frame.

I've thought of something similar. I LOVED the jalousie windows on my older campers. Left them open all summer, and never a drop of rain in (closed while driving in rain of course).

I only see one possible issue with your drawing, but at this point since it's you the owner and not a manufacturer, you can probably decide for yourself if it is something you need to worry about. That is that things such as the furnace exhaust (and maybe the water heater) have minimum distances to openable windows (for fumes/safety). Like I say though, may not be an issue for an owner because first of all, you may still meet the distances, and second of all, you may not open the window when the furnace is running (or could lock it or something). But just something to know about. As you notice, Chinook has the water heater vent (door) and the furnace vent under non-opening portions of the windows. Also the generator exhaust and vehicle exhaust.

I've thought of getting new windows (maybe double pane, for sure nothing with unavailable SE-GI screen clips!), and would definitely explore the possibility of jalousie style windows as you show.

I've also thought about moving the couch (aka my bed) over to the passenger side. This for two reasons: 1) I miss having an opening window right next to my head
2) Invariably, more camping spots slope to the right (especially if you are by a curb for some reason).

Anyway, since you are in Elkhart, keep us posted! I figured I'd talk to Motion Windows (Peninsula Glass) in Washington since I'm familiar with them from boats (and I'm not near Elkhart). But I haven't done so (is down on my list, like yours).

You can get the weep-hole covers here (while they last). I bought 10 so I have spares, and replaced all the broken and missing ones. Assuming they used the same ones as on the 2001 Concourse. I think you can find other suppliers using this model number in a Google search.

I did already buy a few spare weep hole covers, but thanks for the tip. Now if only I could find the stupid screen clips! The screens are useless without them, and the design is such that you can't really use Velcro or other methods to substitute. (And SE-GI has conveniently gone out of business.)

For about a year I carried my one passenger side screen clip (I have enough on the driver's side screen, thank goodness) around in an empty Tic-Tac container and stopped at every RV place I saw (especially ones that looked like they had rooms of old parts). (That's how I found the weep hole covers.) But NONE had the screen clips. None I could find online either. Grrrrr.

I've now been wondering if someone with a 3D printer could make some...?

Weep hole covers caught my attention! My 2000 Concourse with double-pane windows just has open holes and I didn't know such a thing existed. Parked on a slight slope in a sheeting rain on one trip and watched the inside window track fill up with water and almost overflow, so definitely need them. Do not find a manufacturer name on the windows or in the vehicle data card.

My weep hole length is 1 1/4 inch, 1/2 inch between and 1 1/4 inch for a total of 3 inches and about 1/8 inch high. Caconcourse's supplier link does not give the size or if they are right or left specific. Am wondering if they are the ones that I need? Also did an Amazon search but was hard to find the size there too.

The SE-GI weep holes sound much smaller than yours. I'd say around 1/8" wide by 1-1/4" inches long. Pretty small.

I've seen my window track get water in it with torrential rains too, but in my case it comes in from the operable part of the track, not the weep holes (in other words if we are talking about the kitchen side window, that means the track on the outside behind the sink fills up and then leaks through where the opening part of the window meets the fixed part (at couch kitchen junction) and then comes into the inside track that is outboard of the couch. It then drains out the weep holes (which makes me think they knew this would happen because the weep holes are more than you would need for typical condensation).

I've only had the track slightly overflow once, and that was during a deluge of epic proportions (roads washed out, etc.) that I also happened to be "facing" with the couch side window. I put a few paper towels in the track to help out.

The weep holes are 1 1/4 inch long, there are three sets of 2 holes along the passenger side. I assumed that one cover would cover the 3" length of each set of holes. Or does each hole get its own cover? You're right, the track filled up faster than the weep holes could drain it away outside. Guess that time was just too much rain. But I'd like to replace the covers anyway

Well on the SE-GI windows, there is only one weep hole in a "group." In other words, there is one weep hole, then a space (10" or more) then another single weep hole. Best would be to try to figure out what windows were used on your year, and get the covers that fit them (if you can).

There you can see a couple of Hehr weep hole covers, with dimensions, and a Kinro as well. (I did a jillion similar searches when looking for the confounded SE-GI screen clips!)

I looked in the manuals and brochures I have, and only see "Thermopane" windows listed for the 2000+ era Concourses. No mention of brand. But oftentimes you can find it etched somewhere in the window (also sometimes that will be the glass manufacturer which may not be the same thing).

These are definitely the right size, since your dimensions are the same as mine, and they are not left or right-specific. Part number is 371366-100.

There are left and right variants with slightly different numbers, but these fit on both sides. The left and right ones have one end tapered, but these are square on both ends. These are SEGI parts. I have thermopane windows, and have 4 sets of weepholes (4 covers) on each side, not 3. Interesting that the pattern is different on the 2000/2001 windows than on Dale's 1999.

Also, Dale, my screens do not have screen clips. If you post a picture, I might be able to find some online.

Clay, thanks for the confirmation that our 2000 and 2001 weep holes are the same. I scaled the cover out from the penny on vendor's photo, looked right so I placed an order, wanted to get in before they sold out. Good to see another source available for others looking for them too.
