Now that I have this new Victron IP22 charger hooked up to Shore Power via a newly created outlet wired directly to the charger breaker, I am wondering if The Rig has a built in Surge Protector/EMS? If not, should I install a portable one…or is this overkill?
The issue has come up due to suggestion that I install a Surge Guard Plug on my Honda 1000 generator when using it to charge via the shore power cord attached to the Rig. From my research, it sounds like this plug should only be used in conjunction with a Surge Protection/EMS unit.
Can someone help set me straight about all of this? I would hate to do something that jeopardizes the functioning of my new Victron charging system.
Thanks
David
Surge Protection/EMS
Re: Surge Protection/EMS
No response to previous post needed. A search of the Forum would have answered the question (my bad for not having done that BEFORE asking!)…no built-in surge protector.
Since we do frequent “older” campgrounds and occasionally use the generator for charging, I will invest in a portable Progressive Industries EMS/Surge Protecter. Don’t want to take any unnecessary risks with my new equipment.
