1997 Chinook Premier - replacing ladder
I've found a number of "universal" ladders online, but they all have the "U" section with a distance of around 15" to 17". It is only around 11" to where the rooftop rises around 4" on our rig, while the outside rail could extend out that distance more or less level. The "U" section on our outside rail is cracked. Anyone found a replacement ladder for this model?

I believe Surco bought the company TopLine that made the original ladder. It looks like the Surco 502L straight universal ladder has a top section like the original, but does not have the bend or hinges to make the bend. The 501L has the hinges but has a different top. At least one person repaired his broken ladder by keeping his top section and using the bottom section of the 501L with the hinges to make the bend. Since your break is on the top, you could replace it with the 502L, and you can buy the hinges separately and splice it to the bottom portion of your existing latter at the bend.russellsunn wrote: November 22nd, 2022, 5:01 pm I've found a number of "universal" ladders online, but they all have the "U" section with a distance of around 15" to 17". I was not successful at sourcing a good alternative to the existing ladder.
I've had to take mine to a welder who knows how to weld aluminum and had him fix mine. It actually is better than the original with stronger welds.

I've got an RV service here in Chico that can repair/fabricate a ladder if needed. Thanks for your input.
