Battery dis-connect problem?
Battery dis-connect problem?
2003 Concourse.Don't know if anyone has had a problem but the owners guide says that if you disconnect the battery the engine computer will have to relearn idle and fuel trim. Also the transmission will have to relearn and will hard shift for a time. In my case I need to clean post etc. Anyone experiance any thing like that. Thanks.
Re: Battery dis-connect problem?
That is a Ford issue. You maybe to avoid the reset by provide 12V to the cigar socket, or via the OBDII port, while you disconnect the chassis battery. You will need to talk to your Ford dealer or do research on your own, since I am just telling the possible, but unconfirmed way that it can be done. I don't have a 2003 Ford.

Don't worry about it. Do what you need to do. It'll re-learn.

Re: Battery dis-connect problem?
For the newer European cars, I heard it is a real pain when the battery got disconnected, with issue related to security system, ignition, TPMS, etc.. Just glad that the Ford chassis we have does not have as much of these "advanced" features, at least on my 2000 one
