Reverse Light Not Working (1995 Concourse)

Post by BoomBoom »

Hi all,

I have still been unable to solve my reverse light (of Back-Up light) problem. I have replaced all the fuses and checked all the wiring to the best of my ability... still nothing. My biggest hint at this point is that the 30 amp fuse isn't getting any power when in reverse. I'm thinking that points to a neutral safety switch problem? Does that sound right?

Thanks again,
Tim

I lost my reverse lights when I was working on my rear-view camera installation, and found a flaky relay at position 14 in the fuse box (trailer running lights and trailer reverse lights) under the hood. In my case the relay housing had cracked and interfered with the relay, and I just lifted the housing away from the innards, and it started working. Still working 5 years later. But you should check that relay. I think there are similar relays near it in the fuse box you could swap with for troubleshooting. I think they tapped into the trailer harness for the Chinook tail lights.

Thanks for the suggestion! I gave it a try, but no luck. The mystery continues.

Just as an update to this post, I have replaced my NSS and still no reverse lights. But, on the other hand, I have an interesting new problem. I stupidly tried manually adjusting the old NSS to see if I could get the lights to turn on, and even manually shifted the gear on the transmission... now with the new NSS installed P is drive, somewhere between P and N is actually neutral, and D is reverse.
