Battery compartment doors

You are probably just joking but it can't be that on my era Concourse because the doors have painted stripes on them which would not line up if you installed them with the hinge opposite.

How about the stripe was painted after the door was installed? It is more work than other order?

Fair enough, and you are probably right on when painted.

I do think that all the ones I've seen pre-2000-ish have the same hinge arrangement as mine; and afterwards have the other. In other words, it doesn't seem random but rather like a change made from a certain year onward.

Too bad there is no easy way to tell when they switched the configuration, but it is somewhere in year 2000. I don't think we can tell by the "serial" number either, since as far as I know, the number assigned is not serial. Either they were not first-in-first-out, or they were assigning number by drawing from a hat.

My 2001 has both hinges at the top. My side door doesn't have a holder clip, so you just have to hold it out of the way. Now that I know it can't drag on the ground, I prefer it this way.

I have a 2001 Concourse, both battery and spare tire are hinged on top. I wish battery cover was on hinged on bottom to make working there slightly easier.
