Anyone use truck wash?

Does anyone use a truck stop wash for their Chinook? Good idea or bad idea?

I’ve used the truck wash at two different Flying J’s and was happy with both jobs. Both places had two workers with soap brushes, ladders and water hoses go at it while I watched. That said, I do a better job at home, but for getting the bugs off while traveling, $35-40 isn’t bad. I also spray at self car washes, but I can’t do the roof very well and finding one with enough clearance can be a challenge too.

On my 1998 concourse I would be afraid of anyone else but myself with a soft brush on a extension hose to do the job. I restore classic cars and I know how delicate that old but nice paint can be!! But, that's just me. I realize not everyone can do it themselves and at some point you have to trust someone! I will too some day. Hopefully later than sooner! Hah!

I've used those soft brushes like you mentioned for use on delicate old paint, but when it comes to sun-baked bugs on the overcab and roof, they just don't seem to work for me. I have to scrub, and I mean scrub with a stiff bristled brush. Maybe it's my impatience.

What do you recommend for removing bugs on the overcab? I definitely need help here. It's getting embarrassing.

I also have always had issues getting bugs off of the cabover. Before our trip to Arizona last October I spent the time to buff out the entire rig with 3M Marine Restorer and Wax. (The roof and cabover have consistently been the worst spots in terms of condition of the gelcoat.) On return from our trip I had little trouble removing the pesky hitchhikers. I was very pleased to say the least.
