T-Handles broke on both waiste dump gate valves
Well my "Land Shark" is having small problems and I can't stand for something not to work right. Both of My waiste dump valves have always been pretty hard to open and close. Now BOTH of the plastic T-handles are broke and I had to use a vise-grip to get them open. I suspect it would be best to just go ahead and replace both gate valves because I don't even want to buy plastic replacement handles if the gates are the real problem. My question is are we pretty standard on our rv's as far as type and size? On e-bay I have found complete units with Both valves for about $35 dollars. Or I have found individual gate valves for around $15 each. What do ya'll suggest the easiest and best way to solve this problem and how do I know if I'm ordering the right one? Is everything glued on? Other than I see if you just replace the gates they are bolt on it appears.Anyone have part numbers for what I need?

I havent replaced the valves on my chinook but I have done a few sets in other rvs. I have used Valtera brand valves in the past and have been happy with them. regardless of what brand you have now, nothing feels like new valves. Not difficult to replace, but make sure your tanks are empty before trying to do the job,

I had to do some valve job with a full tank, and that was not pleasant at all 
The good thing about a new valves is that the handle will work well... as mentioned above, you can get replacement handle. However, the issue with a difficult-to-open valve that broke the handle is because the lubricant on the gasket is gone, or there are some debris on the channel that make it difficult to pull/push. We should all try to avoid this situation by service the valve by lub it once a while with the right lubricant, or get a replacement if you feel that the cost of the labor is much more significant than the part cost.

I may have screwed up and ordered valves I cannot use. The big 3 inch one comes with a "collar" and a lid on it. It is not "just the slide valve alone". Only paid $18 though. My original collar reduces down and over to the gray water tank and valve assembly also. I also ordered the 1 1/2 inch valve but it is on a collar also!! But only paid $12. Do you think I should be able to just remove the new valves off the collars they come on and install into my original setup? I was just not familiar enough with systems to know for sure what to order. Probably would not be worth the trouble and freight to ship them back.

Did you check the reference section to make sure you have the right part number?
For the 3 inch valve, my rig uses the Valterra BladeX T1003VPM. For the 1.5 inch valve, I was able to just order the seal kit (T1001-9VP), but the valve assembly T1001VPM is the right part, I think.
There is a chance that you can use the BladeX portion... don't know what you got there, but maybe call the seller and see if they know you can use part of the item to get your fixed. Testing it is kind of messy, so I don't know if you are willing to take the risk to do it that way.

Well update on replacing my t-valves for sewage drain. I had thought I made a mistake when I ordered the new valves with collors on them but....pleasant surprise, just remove the slide valve from the adapters and they fit perfect in my original equipment!! I have already installed both of them this morning and have NO LEAKS, and including draining,flushing,and replacing the parts it took me ONE HOUR. The BONUS is, I have adapters if I ever need them and one of them is the bayonet adapter. and...It came with a new 4 hook lid and hanging strap which I used!! Mine only had 2 hooks on it. Soooo, I actually came out way ahead money wise! I don't think they sell many with adapters on them so you can actually buy them CHEAPER than buying just the slide valve by itself! One tip I learned and it worked from watching Valtera's video...put Vaseline on the gaskets to hold them in place while you are reassembling!! Just thought others might want to know the sliding valve part will interchange. I love my "Land Shark" !!

That's great news! I need to do the same and if it took only an hour along with draining and flushing then I am encouraged. Time for me to shop for new waste gates!

I know this is an old thread but I find myself with t-handle that is now hard to open on my black tank. After reading this I know I need to replace mine before it breaks. Thank you chin-k for the heads up on Valtera.
