Anyone know what bulb goes into stock license plate holder?

I left town on trip and realized my inspection was expired, stopped in small garage in small town for inspe tion, and repair guy shows me lic. Plate light not working. With volt meter he figured ground not working. So he put back together as I said I will fix at home, not until I left did I notice he failed my inspection over this....very picky in my opinion.

Anyway, he never put bulb back and I cannot find what bulb to buy. If I clean up wires and attach white ground to lic plate holder, do you think this will work? With a multimeter I get a 9.45 reading with I touch white ground wire and put prong in right side of female socket.

Bye the way, local RV supply charged me $25.00 for lighted Lic. Plate holder :o If the current one needs replacing I’ll order the $9.95 one suggested in this thread ;)

I replaced mine with this one, in chrome, so it matches the bumper:

It is the same housing as the original, but has an LED so it actually does a better job, for $9.99.

I replaced mine, and it was like $3 for two bulbs, and it was one of the common bulbs. Whatever fit in the socket will work. I think it is the #921 style, but don't quote me on it, however.

The voltage is low probably because the ground is not good. Make sure it is not rusty, since I think the ground is simply using the rig's chassis.

My light was out due to a bad ground too, but it was the metal contact behind the license plate frame that was the issue.
I cleaned that up and it works fine now.
