Monroe 555010 rear shock

I am going to replace all four shocks in next few weeks, so I wonder if any of you used the Monroe 555010 or I better save my money and go with the stock OEM part Or should I get the Bilstein shock instead?

For the front, I probably will go with either Bilstein, or a Monroe 555031 (did not check compatibility yet) but I may get a cheaper Monroe if there is not much difference.

Any recommendation?

I have Monroe RV shocks all around and have been quite happy with them, now about 3 1/2 years old. I paid a lot extra because I had them installed on the road, but they came with a lifetime replacement warranty.

Since you asked for any recommendation (not just Monroe), I put Koni FSD on all four corners and was quite happy with them in stock suspension. When I added the rear anti-sway bar then I ended up switching the rears for Koni adjustables to soften it a bit; but without that they were good.

However, maybe like many of us I have only run either the stock ones that had 49k on them (not fun) or the Koni FSD/Koni adjustable. I haven't run any of the other ones you mention to compare them.

I don't have Mor-Ryde, BTW. Just the Ford suspension plus the tweaks I've made (anti-sway bars, etc.).

I went with Bilstein Comfort shocks and am happy with the ride and handling. I don't have MorRyde and my rear sway bar is stock.

The other alternative for the rear shock is Monroe 555032. Unlike the 555010, this one is not load adjusting, but more expensive. Anyone know why the load adjusting shock is actually cheaper? I have Mor-Ryde, and wonder if the load adjustment version is not the right type for the rubber spring, or it is not as good as the non-adjustable.

Another question is this. For the same part number, Monroe has two type of shock. One for RV, other for ambulance. What is the difference, if any?

For the front, I will either go with the Monroe 555031 or the Bilstein.

I got the Monroe Steering damper from O'Reilly, and they said it has a lifetime warranty. However, when I called Monroe about the front and rear shocks, they said they do not have lifetime warranty. Maybe the lifetime warranty depends on where you buy the shocks?

I think it probably does depend on the seller, and filling in paperwork or some connection with Monroe on their part. Don't feel bad however, I paid probably three times as much as you did for the shocks, because I bought them on the road at a gas station, and had them installed in the parking lot. No regrets, though.

I would contact the seller to ask about that, but I suspect they will last as long as you have the Chinook, so hopefully it is moot. The local warranty service person told me that "they last forever".
