Chinook RV

Looking to get ideas on spice containers for the spice rack. Originally I was going to get simple salt/pepper shakers. Then I thought I'd get a set that's contained in a holder so they don't knock over when driving. Now I'm thinking magnetic jars and laying a piece of flat metal on the floor of the spice rack and gluing it in place, then placing the jars on that. Maybe something whimsical...

theres a guy out in san fran (last place I read) that's living out of a vw based rv (too short for tall guys like me unfortunately). He installed metal ceiling tile thingies around the stove area. Then used magnetic metal jars with a clear lid. Had every spice known to man and didn't use any cabinet space.

Have you considered just putting a piece of foam rubber (ie: upholstery foam) in the rack? It would hold the various spice container shapes and sizes plus handle the changes to the spices. Say you run out of pepper in New Mexico and the grocery store there has a different brand which is in a rectangular can versus a glass cylinder. I've just stuffed a bag of ground coffee, as purchased in the market, into the rack and stopped movement.

Using foam as a bookend? Sounds like a good idea. I'm also thinking of just carrying a bunch of spices so I can just stack them against each other so they don't slide around.

Being a chef with a Chinook and needing spice containers I used very small plastic containers made in New Zealand of all places got them at Walmart 4 for $6 so I got 8 works great no noise and will not break.

Put them in baby food jars and nail (or screw) the tops underneath the little cabinet next to the sink. Screw the jars back into the tops and let them hang underneath the cabinet.
