Heading out in less than a week to driveway surf at Sneads Ferry, Nc. I'm a member of Boondockers Welcome and I want to burn some leave and be near a beach. Rain or shine (and refrigerator still not working) I'm going with my 2 dogs. The plan is to stay at a public beach area during the day and use the safety of a driveway at night.

Nice! Sounds like my kinda travel too. What's it take to be a member of that group?

Small fee for the year. I found a coupon online and only paid $17. This will be the 3rd time I used it and so far, excellent experiences. I'm seriously considering Harvest Hosts but that costs a bit more.

Had a great trip and stayed three days. My base camp was the Boondockers Welcome site in Sneads Ferry. The host site had a 30 amp hookup, water, wifi, and his own dump station. I took advantage of the electric but had plenty of water for 3 days. I did use the dump station before leaving. The host was a nice old guy who had his own small Class C RV. He offered me the use of his canoe on the Intracoastal Waterway which backed up to his house. Because this was a short trip and I was interested in the beach, I didn't take him up on it. If I take a longer trip down there I will definitely do that.
5 miles away were the public beaches in North Topsail. I found one that had a great view of the ocean if you parked just right. That's where I spent 3 days. They opened from 8 until 10 p.m. I took full advantage of that time and then drove back to the host's house to plug in and settle in. While it was spring break down there it really wasn't bad at all. Got to know the same people as we would all come to our same spots. I was also the only RV and the only unique one, so they got to know me real quick. The puppies had a good time and are getting more used to the beach more I go. I will definitely go back there again.

Sounds like a great trip - day parking can really net you some good spots (that you couldn't camp in).
The last photo cracked me up: Only with a rear door
