Hey folks,
While winterizing my RV this year, I noticed antifreeze leaking from my sewer valve. I let it sit for a day or two to monitor the loss, and when I opened the valve with a small pan underneath, I realized I was losing a fair amount from both the gray and black tanks.
Since temperatures here in New York are dropping fast, I needed a reliable, quick fix. After researching a few options, I went with the Valterra T50 3" Hub x 3" Bay with Cap Valve Assembly (Black). It’s a solvent-weld style valve, not the twist-on type, and it seemed like the most direct solution for my setup.
For the installation, I used Oatey 30246 PVC Regular Clear Cement and the NSF Purple Primer Handy Pack to ensure a solid bond. The process was straightforward and so far, it’s working perfectly — no more leaks from either tank.
I’ll likely revisit and inspect the connection in the spring to make sure everything held up through the winter, but for now, this fix solved the issue just in time for the cold snap.
Hopefully, this helps anyone dealing with similar leaks during winterization. Simple project, inexpensive parts, and great peace of mind!
Stay safe, stay warm, and happy camping!
