Chinook RV

I've got a 2001 Destiny with a 8.1 liter Chevy 3500. My mechanic says I need an EGR valve and throttle body but can't find one anywhere. I know nothing about engines but am reaching out if anyone has any ideas? We're in Morro Bay, CA.

I've never touched that motor before, but is it not just as simple as looking it up on a parts store like rock auto?

Yes it is. The part number is 88894094 or 2141058 according to the mechanic.

do you have to smog test the chinook? if not i would do a delete kit.

2003 was the last year they used a egr in the 8.1

upgrade the ecm tune to 2004 or newer, better smog numbers and no egr

I did some additional research because I have the same engine as you but my rig is a 2002 Chinook Destiny 2400. Which I believe has the same engine as yours the "Chevy 8.1L Vortec Engine". The Part Numbers you provided 88894094 or 2141058 are no longer manufactured. That being said the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valve for the 2001-2004 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 8.1L V8 engine maybe the same part. I spoke with The Parts Geek (800) 541-9352 and they believe this part will work for you:

He also suggested to call ACDelco (800) 223-3526 and cross reference the parts numbers you provided. To see whether or not is there another alternative that would work as a replacement.
