We are newbies to the laptop world but just bought our 1st. It is 14-15 inch. I bought the inverter for power. I want to know, for my wifes ease of using the laptop while I'm driving what is everyone using for a laptop mount or table or bracket?? To be used while sitting in the passenger seat? I looked at a product called MOBOTRON. Has anyone used them? Any suggestions? we leave on that 3-4 week long New England trip end of May. I want to get this all done before that trip. Thanks in advance!

A lightweight wireless keyboard will be helpful, since she will be typing it on her lap. If she mostly going to use the mouse, or the laptop has touch screen, then forget what I said about the keyboard.

I do not use a laptop mount. For tablet, they just hold it on their hands, and with a palm grip on the back. Frankly, it is kind of uncomfortable looking at laptop while the vehicle is moving, esp. if you need to use the mouse on precision work. One bump, and you end up clicking on the wrong cell on the spreadsheet, or send out payment to a wrong person, or place a $6000 bid on eBay item worth no more than $45.

Do work on the dinnette when the rig is done traveling, and when it is nice and quiet.

For using a laptop “on our laps” in the Rig, I designed a nice little kidney-shaped lap to board out of 3/8” cherry ply. You can make it any size you want, cut it with an electric jig saw and sand it to reveal a nice white border edge. I’ll try to send a pic now, but may have to wait till I am home and in front of my computer in a few days.
