'95 Shower Line Leak

Hi all!
Very happily full-timing in my new '95 Premiere. These are just as functional as they are eye - catching!
I'm looking at taking apart the shower line. Everything "works" but there is a sizable leak coming from the tubing that attaches to the faucet + some gunk built up. As I am learning, not always best to take something apart until it is actually broken
How is that tubing attached in there? Or is pulling it out making a bigger mess in the long term? Also, the pin that comes out of the faucet can't keep itself up. I've been using little trinkets to keep it in place, but I'd like to stop losing water and precious shower time.
