My "Land Shark" must have become haunted!! After last weeks 4 day camping trip we couldn't use their dump station because it was broke. We live on 25 acres and the drive home was only 12 miles. 2 days ago my grandson and I hooked up to our fresh water hose at home and drained the sewer system as we have for the last 2 years without any problems but... This time yesterday I kept smelling sewage real strong near the rv. When I stepped inside the smell was horrible!! This has never happened before!! And after draing and flushing I had put my sewer tank addative in also. It is totally empty but WHY would I be getting a sewer smell in the coach when I NEVER have before?? I know I'm going to be replacing those t-handle valves next week but would like to solve this problem first!!

Hello, the smell may be because your P-traps do not have water in them. The sink and shower P-traps will allow the smell to vent into the living area if empty. Hope it's that simple.

That makes sense. Also, if you leave both T-valves open with the drain cap on after draining and flushing, it allows the gray water system and black water system to mix, so fumes from the black system can get back to the sinks and shower if the P-traps are not filled. It also allows liquid from the black tank to get into the gray tank, if you open/close and drain the tanks in the wrong order. Make sure the tanks are empty and close both valves and pour some water into the sinks, down the shower drain, and make sure the toilet seal is working so there is a little bit of water in the toilet. That should block all the paths for fumes except for the roof vent, which is outside the cabin.
