Appropriate price for 2004 Destiny?

Post by thomasinaTRP »

We're about to start our Chinook adventure.
We've found a 2004 Destiny with 105k miles on it. Excellent condition. Club lounge.
I don't want to overpay.

What is a reasonable price? What price would be a bargain? What is overpriced?

I'd have my mechanic check it out to minimize surprises.

When we go back to see it, what are a few things that we should absolutely check?

Thank you for helping us

I don't think these newer Chinook have MorRyde suspension, but definitely make sure there is no issue with the chassis. Make sure there is record of service, and all the work is done on timely manner according to Ford, just as if you are buying a truck/van. Check the tires too, and find out how old they are.

For the coach, make sure it is clean, no evidence of water leak, no crack, and everything work. For the last part, take a look at the Chinook manual for your year on the Reference section, and be familiar with how things work, and actually run it thru. The big items are the roof AC, the refrigerator, and there is no issue with DC and AC appliances. AC work, furnace nice and toasty, water pump fine, does not comes on after a few minutes due to leak, fans and ligths all as expected, etc.

As to the price, it depends on the condition and what you two agreed to. It can be as low as $10k for a beat up one, to $40+k one that looks like it just came out of the factory 20 yrs ago.
