sideview mirrors won't stay tight

1998 concourse sideview mirrors wont stay tight. NOT the extending arm you tighten with the "special" allen wrench but the "square"part. I can adjust it electrically but seems like every 50 miles or so especially real windy or real bumpy roads I have to push the mirror back out and then adjust electrically again. Driver side worse but both do it to some extent. I can't see any way to "tighten" them up. Can anyone help with solution or advise? It takes very little force to move them by hand so either they are wore out or need tightening in some way. Only about 50,000 miles on the rig.

I am trying to picture what your describing. So the mirror moves in at the pivot point on the door easily? or is the mirror head on the arm itself moving easily?

It sounds like Flame;s mirror is loose in the enclosure, so that he needs to adjust the mirror constantly.

If its a velvac mirror, I don't think you can get inside the head to tighten up the mirror part.

It is NOT the arm. It is NOT the glass mirror part that adjust electricly. It IS the WHITE SQUARE that the glass mirror part sets in. It mounts to the arm. That is what won't stay tight. Sorry I have not been good at describing it.

ah, ok. there should be a plastic plug under the mirror head at the end of the arm, pop it out and there should be either a screw or a allen head you can tighten up and it will secure the mirror head to the arm.

edit, if you have a velvac mirror, here is where the screw is on the arm, I have already removed the plastic plug. sorry its not the greatest pic but should give you good reference.

Rich, I think you are referring to the newer version that has a rectangular access piece on the bottom of the arm. Flame probably have the older version, and they are different. I think there are two Philips screws that he can use to remove the end of the arm, and take a look. The vertical mirror assembly do es not move at all in both the older and newer mirrors. Never took mine apart, but there has to be some kind of fastener that hold it in place.

oh yeah, i know which one your talking about, yeah it has a plate you can remove. I don't have any buses here at the moment with that older style on it. but I agree, either way Flame, there should be something by the mirror head you can remove and get to something to tighten up the mirror head.

I am only a 3 month owner but my 2000 Premier had same issue. Mirror owners manual says outer shell of mirror is factory set. Therefore, no adjustment set screws. I did the following.
1. Auto adjust mirror to it outer most setting.
2. Then rotate shell inwards, you can feel the assembly tighten.
3. Make final inward adjustment with mirror controls.
Mirror assembly has stayed tight for 500 miles on California roads
