Chinook RV

My windows tend to rattle open when going down the road, so I devised some fancy window latches to hold them shut. Against all odds, they worked great. A day's drive in each direction, not a whistle out of the windows.

I cut them a little long, so they wedge in tight. The dowel bows a little bit; I bought one that was smallish because I wanted it to fit inside the track.

Those are sophisticated. We might need a diagram

My drinking straw screen clips really belong here too

(Originals are Unobtanium but the straws are still going strong a couple years later.)

Kirah, I think you may have infringed on Blue-Go's patented "Door Stick". Blue, you should sue for royalties!

what do the original clips look like? Any have a complete one they can send me, i mean like a broken one with all the pieces so i can see what it is and maybe work on reproducing them?

Blue is talking about some screen clips. I don't have any clips, as far as I can tell, my screen just sits in a track in the window. I haven't seen the clips.

I have always wondered if someone with a 3D printer (and the knowledge) could reproduce these specific screen clips. I do have one set (there is a top and a bottom clip), and I have photos.

(These are clips that are specific to a certain Hehr window that was used around 1998-99 (maybe earlier) that was then discontinued. The screen clips are discontinued and impossible to find!)

I'll start a new thread for this, Doug (or maybe piggyback onto one from before that is about these clips).

Will the 3D printed latches be strong enough to be practically used? I assume you do not have a metal printer.

Depends on what media you print with, if you use the correct media its quite strong. Much like the ABS plastic sewer pipes and fittings on your Chinook, ABS plastic is considerably stronger than PVC, but the PVC is more flexible.

Just to be clear, the pieces I was referring to are tiny little plastic clips that hold the screen in place - and allow it to slide - on the circa 1999 Hehr windows. They don't need to be very strong (which is why drinking straws are doing the job, albeit not as nicely as the originals.
