Chinook RV

My solar controller is falling apart! Is there a controller out there that would be easy to replace it? I am in the process of selling it and so don't want to spend much money.

Clay, for completeness, is there a good MPPT version in case people want to add more panels, etc.?

I'm not Clay, but basically, if people are going to be adding more panels, it's going to be a whole new system. The existing wire is too thin, the controller is too small, the panel is too low a voltage. It does what it does (and was forward thinking at the time), but now you'd just start from scratch basically, if you wanted a bigger system, IMO. So I wouldn't worry about that as far as guessing what the next people might want.

Good to have the existing system working, as it just shows well and it does keep the battery topped off while the coach is not in use.

You are absolutely right, Blue. I will definitely have to upgrade other area of the system when I want to upgrade the solar. Using MPPT controller with the existing components would be not very good use of the controller.

Oh sorry, I failed to notice it was you asking, and I was thinking it was Kani who is about to sell the rig and was asking about a controller for a quick replacement. Different situation and my bad for not noticing it was you asking about the MPPT (presuming you are hanging onto your Chinook for awhile )
