One more link (I know, at this point you are like "I thought you had to run, just go fer Pete's sake!). But I just re-read Maine's battery melt down article and I noticed he mentioned about loose connectors about halfway down the page - and how they can cause a problem without a fuse ever blowing (years ago this had just not registered on me - that heat was not the same as a short).

Believe it or not I have already read this article. As I recall he is in favor of using a lock washer AND a nylock as the perfect combination. In my motorcycle competition days (back in the 70's-ouch!) we used a ton of nylocks, loctite, and wired nuts.
This guy has a lot of great stuff to read.

I don't think these connectors are going to loosen on their own in our environment, but Loctite would certainly seal the deal.
PS I think your motorcycle environment is much tougher on connections than these trucks are going to encounter.
