12v led strip light is amazing stuff. You can even get a dimmable, RGB+White variety that lets you set any color/light level combo. Good call on the hot glue, that's what the pros use in a lot of retail lighting builds. Basically just "stitch" it over the stuck-on tape every few inches to hold it if the adhesive fails.
