Thats what i was thinking, they cut to sharp and caught a tree or post, or backed up into something on that side. Based on what i read it would require a considerable amount of heat to break down the fiberglass resin to cause something like that, not that its impossible. i know when fiberglass boats catch fire alot of times they say its easier to just sink the boat to put out the fire because once the resin ignites its very hard to put it out. Thats why i say if it caught fire it likely would have burned to the ground before anyone was able to put the fire out. But i imagine if it was parked right next to a fire pit for an extended period of time its possible it could have heated an area to an extreme temp, but i cant imagine anyone being silly enough to park their rig that close to a fire pit. Now im wondering if maybe the black tank froze up in the winter and someone placed a shop space heater on that side of the truck and left it running all day to thaw out the poop tank???

I can't count the number of times I have seen people build HUGE campfires right next to their (gasoline powered) RV's. It seems nuts to me. What if the wind shifts or it flares up?!

But I think your scenario is much more likely (a physical crunch). I wasn't able to see that there were re-paint areas, but to me that just makes your idea that much more likely.
