Chinook RV

I have some small water damage and to repair it I found a Red Oak Veneer with peel and stick backing. I just received a sample and will use the natural stain that has been recommended on this forum. I want to match the existing oak as closely as possible.

I was looking into hardwood backing and per sman will look onto Baltic Birch.

Another option is to use solid oak, which is what I used to repair my MDF. My repairs were limited to about 2 to 6 inches from the floor, so I glued oak scraps to make the repair pieces, and stained with "golden oak" stain and varnish for a matching finish. You can find solid oak furniture at thrift stores for cheap, and you can buy hobby size pieces as well. I used some old drawer fronts I got at a recycle place. Where the seams were noticeable, I just cut some oak molding and covered them. Since there is already a lot of trim in the coach covering seams, it doesn't look bad.

The solid oak with a coat of varnish is pretty much water proof.
