68camaro, they are lying to you. I installed the dometic penguin 2 on my concourse. There is a control board conversion that allows you retain your existing 5 button thermostat. There is no way they are going to be able to route all of the required wiring threw the roof to the AC unit from the thermostat. This looks like the proper unit but call dometic to make sure you get the correct one if you havent already completed this swap.https://www.amazon.com/Dometic-3313107- ... B00JF2CXH2

Doug, thanks. My appt is Thursday but tomorrow I am going down to dealer with this information. I normally like upgrading to current technology but if wiring will be a problem I'd rather not pay alot of extra labor if they can just do upgrade and keep 5 button. I think the new CCC2 12 button is not much more than this 5 wire conversion board.

I think the new CCC2 thermostat uses the same kind of interface cable as the old thermostat (4-wire phone jacks), so they can probably re-use the existing wiring with the new thermostat and A/C.

My big frustration has been Dometics consumer helpline, their dealer line is probably different, but their consumer customer service reps do nothing except read off scripts and product brochures. And when their product info contradicts each other my rep got very angry at me when I tried to decipher which was the correct answer. She would not allow me to talk to tech person or manager, when I called next day I got same person who remembered me and asked what my problem was not understanding this?????

Had the a/c unit and thermostat replaced today, the new thermostat used same wires as old so it was really just plug-n-play, they did not need to mess with the wires. The new CCC2 12 button thermostat was $132, which is about the cost of the 12 button to 5 button board some install in their units that allow them to keep the old thermostat.

The new CCC2 thermostat is nice and 21st century looking but really not necessary. Dealer said Dometic recommended the CCC2 over the 12 to 5 button board but may be just marketing. The CCC2 unit is narrower in height than the original so there are two screw holes not covered by CCC2 unit, dealer did what they could but still noticeable if looking, I will do better job later to hide. They are right under thermostat so can only see if sitting at dining table.

The 13,500 b.u. a/c w/ heat pump was $1,249.00, freight - $117, ccc2 - $132.00, 1 hr diagnostic, 2 hrs labor, so total was $1,933, they were able to save me tax on parts.

You can do it cheaper by getting unit without Heat Pump or going less expensive unit.

Temps today was humid 93* and a/c got to 75 pretty quick before I shut down.

Dealer also did Frig recall fix no charge.

Dometic pays for the fridge recall, so there should be no charge to us. It save you a trip to bring it back, so it is a good service when they do it together with the AC.

Correct, but you have to ask for it. After I bought my rig I had dealer do complete walk-thru and explain all systems to me, this included making sure everything worked as it should. They never mentioned recall, it was only when I asked they said no problem.

Yes, this turned out to be correct, install of new CCC2 was easy.....except it took them an hour to realize they had system set for zone 2 instead of zone 1 :o

But the upside is if I ever add an addition with seperate a/c my new thermostat can handle both.....actually it can handle 4
