Very well done-very nice finish work with the carpeting! I want to make better use of that space as well. We currently have everything shoved in and stacked. I will have to show Norman this and let him hone his carpentry skills again next summer.

Do people tend to do most of their outdoor "Chinook Cooking" at the rear or pass. side of the vehicle?

On traditional RVs the side makes sense as that's where the door usually is. Plus the awning, and it's off the road, etc. I guess you could pass stuff out the open chinook window?

This BBQ grill table idea has me thinking about making that area more of a kitchen pantry for my stove, etc.

Or, the panel for the fridge vent would be a good area to have a flip-down table/kitchen storage pass-through, since I've got no fridge there.

I just realized you are the same talented person that did the rug install. You are really talented at finish work! Patience, ingenuity and skill are the best combination.

Our back end compartment hinges at top which is a pain, but Norman (without looking at it), thinks we can flip it around. He appreciated your workmanship as well.

Keep sharing...the forum will make your ego so big, your head won't fit through your Chinook door!

Your rear compartment mod looks great! I have a bunch of things sort of stacked on their side but shelves would make more sense.

Mine hinges at the top as well. They changed it around in later years.

You could flip it around but then the stripes wouldn't match. If you just move the hinge you have the lock holes to deal with. Also, then you are resting things on a foam door (essentially).

So if you want something similar, I'd suggest what another member did (but darned if I can find the photos!). He made a plywood "door" that fit just inside the stock door (his hinged "up" like ours do). He hinged the new door at the bottom, and had strings/wires to hold it horizontal when opened.

The plus is that you don't have to change your door, and you can have as heavy/light/fancy/sturdy inner door as you want.

Note that that compartment does lead to the indoors as built (behind the shower). So consider that if you leave it open at campsites (or block it off somehow).
