New member driving light and lighted entrance handle questio
New member driving light and lighted entrance handle questio
This is my first post. Just yesterday became the owner of a 1998 concourse!! Only 40,000 miles. Everything seems to work except the driving lights below the front bumper and the light in the entrance bar handle. How do I get to the light to check it in the handle? Also is the red lever style button above the driver sideview mirror adjustment buttons the one for the driving lights" I have all the books with the rv but could find nothing about these 2 items. I really want everything to work. Also can you buy amber lenses for the driving lights? One last thing for now...Where is my best source for purchasing Chinook parts for my 1998 Concourse?? Thanks so much in advance. I am sure I will have a lot more questions in the future,

Re: New member driving light and lighted entrance handle que
Congrats! I have a 1997 Concourse and love it.
Good luck and feel free to ask away...
As you enter the chinook from the rear, on your immediate left are likely a row of three switches. On mine the left most turned on the lighted Handle, a rear step light strip, and the rear patio light.Flame wrote:How do I get to the light on to check it in the handle?
No, that switch turns on your heated mirrors. On mine there is a switch above the drivers head on the ceiling console. One is marked Driving lights (left most) and allows your driving lights to come on when you put on your High beams. No idea about amber lenses but likely.Flame wrote: Is the red lever style button above the driver sideview mirror adjustment buttons the one for the driving lights? No one best source for Chinook items but everything is readily available. Folks on this forum are happy to provide advice. There are many resources available here too so I recommend scrolling through the various forums and reading posts/replies of interest. Will help you get up to speed.Flame wrote:One last thing for now...Where is my best source for purchasing Chinook parts for my 1998 Concourse??

Re: New member driving light and lighted entrance handle que
Thanks for the heated mirror info and I found the driving light switch and they work great. Must be on high beam to work. I turned all 3 switches you spoke of by the back door and the porch light and the awning light works but the grab bar light still does not. I honestly cant see a light for the rear steps. Maybe I'm just looking in the wrong place. Do I remove the glass grab bar to access a light bulb that might be out??

Re: New member driving light and lighted entrance handle que
Step Light - The rear step light is INSIDE. It's a strip light at the top of the foot well. Yellow area in photo. Many folks remove them when redoing the floor.
Handle - I believe you loosen the handle mounts and it will slide up then out to access the bulb. Others can chime in. Mine broke so I heat formed a curved solid handle instead of replacing.

Re: New member driving light and lighted entrance handle que
Well I'll be a son of a gun. I found both the step light and the pump station light and they both work too!! Now the only light on this whole rig not working is the handle light. Read horror stories about screws breaking off trying to remove the handle. I might just leave it alone. But I do see droplets of water coming out of the bottom of the handle. We have had horrible rains here in east Texas in the last few days and this unit was parked outside. May be why handle light don't work. Thanks soooo! much for your help.

Oh man, thanks for the reminder that I need to replace the dump light and clean its fixture!
As for the handle, apparently the light is at top. Searching "lighted grab handle" on ebay and amazon finds LED replacements. Might try it myself.

Re: New member driving light and lighted entrance handle questio
Update:... I did get the entrance handle light fixed!! I only had to remove the top piece of chrome and replace the #57 bulb. Works great now when you turn the porch light on. Really had to take my time with a good screwdriver and lubricant to keep from breaking screws. Thanks for all the advise.
