Generator on and off setting?

Post by Xatlatc »

We're first time 'Boondocking ' in a casino parking lot in Pennsylvania. The class A near me is quiet, then the generator comes on for awhile to run the air conditioning then off again. Is it possible to have the generator 'on' when the temperature reaches a certain degree then shuts off the a/c and generator when the desired temperature is reached? That way the generator doesn't run all night, only when the temperature drops to the set point. In other words, the generator only runs when the a/c falls to a certain temperature?

I know some Class A's have generators with "auto start" (probably larger/diesel gensets). I've never had a generator with auto start but I wouldn't be surprised if it works with the thermostat/AC somehow.

I'm guessing the power management computer they run was handling it. Saw too much of a draw and then told the gen to start.

You're both correct about some rigs having automatic on/off request sent from the a/c or thermostat to the generator. Pretty good idea. Thanks.
