Hello all,
Planning to upgrade my batteries to lithium in our new to us 2003 Premier. Existing batteries are two AGM marine with an unknown start date, one of which is completely dead and won't take a charge. Went back and forth between more AGMs and lithium before deciding at current prices lithium was too good not to try. Goal is a reliable system at reasonable cost, not looking for a super system. Major components are listed below.
- Two Watt Cycle 100AH batteries. They have good reviews for performance and build quality and have cold weather charge protection in the BMS. About $160 each.
-One Watt Cycle shunt type battery monitor for the coach interior. About $80.
-One Kisae DMT-1250 DC-DC converter/solar controller for alternator and solar charge control, installed in the battery compartment. About $210.
-One or two 200 watt remote folding solar panels. These will fold up and fit in the compartment in front of the spare tire. About $200 each.
No plan to change the original house battery charger which has a fixed voltage of 13.6 volts. Plan to use it if needed to get the batteries up to 80-90% charge and then disconnect them while on shore power to not overcharge them. The stock converter will run all the 12 volt systems just fine on shore power without being connected to the battery.
Thoughts, suggestions?
Thanks,
Guy

Good luck, lets us l ow how it is working out, I converted to 3 lithium house batteries couple years ago and love them. They have internal heater which is nice as I use rig mostly in colder weather.
