Great addition to your rig, I really like that option.

Great Job!

Your mod is really nice. I have pondered this type of thing in the past but.... I do use my ladder fairly often. Also, there was the issue of clearing the top of the rear door (which your awning solves). Mostly, I just never figured it out and did it ;) You did!

Now that you've had it for a bit..... how does it do in any wind? (Nemesis out West.) Do you use it often? Does it have optional corner poles if one wanted to use them (like the ends of our stock side awnings)?

I did make a temporary rear awning out of shade cloth and a couple of TALL tent-like poles for the outer legs (man did those have to be tall). That of course needed guy-lines so I found that I only bothered with it a few times. That said, for someone who tends to kind of spread out and stay awhile in a campsite it could be decent. (It just went around the ladder.)

i installed last fall just before removing the interior for this years upgrades, so have not used it camping yet, but i do not imagine camping without it deployed at least covering the door there are no optional poles for this awning

I can see where that would be really nice. BTW, I saw re-reading your post that you said it has no poles. Duh, missed the the first time.

Really nice, two questions:

1. Did you use self tapping screws into rig or did you secure with nuts and bolts? Did you add any additional support inside rig where screws are?

2. Do you think your install method to secure to rig would hold weight of electric awning?

Thanks

hey 68, i was faced with a dilemma when i considered mounting styles i really did not like the options of access holes in the shower so i decided to try rivnuts (8mm) really happy how they bit into the fiberglass then used 5200 sikaflex bonding the bracket to the coach (treated it like one of my boats) the fiberglass is about 1/4" thick there and two bolts top and on the vertical face in two locations. so fairly stout
