Hood on Chinook Glacier
Anyone know if the hood on the Glacier made of steel or aluminum?
Re: Hood on Chinook Glacier
Got a magnet? I don't think it is stainless steel, so the magnet should work.

Not steel, wonder if it's fiberglass? or Aluminum.. Anyone have theirs replaced?
Re: Hood on Chinook Glacier
Really? The hood on the F350 is not steel? I did not believe it, and I actually went out and test it with a magnet, and lo and behold, it does not work! So I guess it is aluminum? I will need to get a good look at it where there is not painted to tell if it is indeed aluminum, and may have to scrap some off ..

I found the hood on my 1999 Ford Ranger to be plastic. You cannot tell without a magnet, it looks so "normal."
Next time I'm near my Chinook, with a magnet, I'll check.

Re: Hood on Chinook Glacier
We acquired a 2004 E450 Chinook Glacier and wonder if the prior owner replaced the hood. It's not steel, a magnet will not stick to it. Does anyone know if it's fiberglass, aluminum? We are trying to determine if this is the original hood or not. Thanks!
Re: Hood on Chinook Glacier
My is not steel either. It is original, so maybe yours too. Make it easier to lift up to check engine oil, I guess?
