Fresh water tank

Post by Zayvier »

Hi. I just purchased a 1976 dodge chinook 18 plus 2. It has a fresh water tank that has this Info in it:
Inca T 1237
AIPMO
T

I can’t tell the tank size. This tank looks original. Is it on to use it if it works fine/no leaks? Are there any concerns for using such an old tank for drinking water? Can I sanitize it before filling it?
The previous owner added a filtration system just before the kitchen faucet pipe- so this should help.

Has anyone heard of this brand tank?

I will add pics.

Thank you,
Charlie

Sanitize it, it should be fine. Check for leak by filling it up all the way to the gooseneck, and see if the level drops. If it drops, then there is a leak or the water goes somewhere. Read the manual for instruction for sanitize and draining the tank.

I would replace the inline filter before the kitchen faucet.

Thank you for your reply. I’ll sanitize it this weekend and check for leaks as well as replace the filter.
Thanks,
Charlie

I didn't see that model in their PDF catalog, so you would need to contact them. That is so old, they may no longer have the mold, but might have the dimensions somewhere.

Thank you. I emailed them yesterday and they said they discontinued that mold and that it is ok to use a tank made back the. That there is no danger from the plastic used.
Thanks,
Charlie

If there is no physical damage to the tank, any chemical that could leech out into the water probably already leeched out by now. My rule of thumb is that as long as the container is newer than when the content was made, it is good ;)
