Downtime for hardware upgrade

Post by Manitou »

On may 15th at 9pm, the hosting facility will cause us some downtime for an upgrade. They didn't give an estimated amount of time. They said "may cause downtime". If it isn't back online by Saturday morning I'll be surprised.

Thanks Manitou for the heads-up.
Reminds me to ask again...how are your finances these days? Time to contribute to the Tip Jar? Please let us know. This forum is WAY too valuable to be hampered by a lack of funding for maintenance and operation.
...thanks again for keeping us up and running.

Nice of you to ask about the finances. I was able to renew the hosting and domain registration just fine, but I did not renew the backups. For some unknown reason the monthly google ads money has been cut roughly in half the last 4-5 months. The traffic did drop, but only by about 25%. This forum seems to have a high and low season, so the traffic drop (and to some extent Blue-go himself gone missing) is understandable. If you guys would like backups turned back on.. well.. yes, I'm sorry to say some tips to the tipjar would be in order. I just checked and the estimated quote it gave me is $99.96/yr.
Here's a link since link is only shown randomly.

Thanks again David. I'll post up here when there is enough to turn backups back on.

Thanks Rich. You guys surprise me sometimes. I'll get the backups turned back on today.
SMan, I can PM you but we already have enough for a year of backups.

Backups are kicking off again now. It was a pain, but it should be good to go now. Some day I'll move this site to a better provider.. but that will be a pain too.. a pain for some other day (haha)
