Replace Siemen’s solar panel

Post by rocice »

Greetings, has anyone replaced the Siemen’s solar panel with new panel(s)? We’re looking at the Zamp Solar 90 Watt long panel (b grade) or the Solarland SAP080s-12M. Width wise both panels would fit the space alongside both sides of the AC. Adding 2 panels to the roof of our Concourse.

This is what I did six years ago ... the system continues to run great.

Installed two GS135 panels (270 watts total), one either side of the AC using AM Solar's proprietary mounts, with the outer mounts positioned close to the edge of the upper roof line. This allows the panels to be tilted when required. The panels were wired in parallel with MC4 connectors.

Replaced the old charge controller with a Blue Sky Solar Boost 3000i MPPT unit.

A battery temperature sensor was wired into the charge controller

An IPN auxiliary harness was installed to take advantage of an optional feature of the new charge controller and provide (up to) a 2 amp feed to the starter battery

Andrew, thanks for the reply. I found a post 'Full solar system install' viewtopic.php?f=8&t=1441 which is helping us out as well.
