Side Mirror 98 Concourse

Post by Burnaby »

Unfortunately, my son hit something that smashed the passenger side mirror. Took it to a local glass shop but they said the mechanics are damaged and it is an aftermarket side mirror. No one locally (Vancouver/Lower Mainland) seems to know much about Chinooks and I have been given a quote for a Ford 350 which seems very expensive.
Can anyone give me an idea of where I should be looking and what the part is? I have a 1998 side entry Chinook Concourse. Would really appreciate some guidance here. Thanks.

Sorry have no idea. That said pictures of the good mirror might help. Someone will probably chime in.

Most likely a Velvac 2020 or (obsolete) 2015

Clay's right... Velvac was usually the supplier. Ebay has new ones for your year for about $160 (just a guess without visual ref.):

This is the broken mirror. So if it is one of the discontinued models, what do other people do for a replacement?

You can still get parts for the discontinued model at Velvac, you just can't order an entire assembly. Chances are good however that you have the 2020 model. Your picture looks like the 2020 mirror (except for the stuck-on temporary square mirror). Their web site is kind of funky, but you can call their technical support here:

"Call our Technical Service Dept. at 1-800-783-8871"

They should be able to identify your part needs, and tell you how to send them your picture if need be. Most likely part is the passenger side heated glass kit (part number 709748) for the 2020 Econoline mirror, less than $50:

Glass Kit: Heated 8" x 10-5/8" - Includes Plastic Bezel, Flat Glass and Stick-On Corner Mount Convex Mirror
709748

$48.38

update: it looks like the 2015 uses the same glass kit, so that should work for you.

Good luck,
