I am attempting to resurect a 2005 Summit that has been setting for 7 years, and as stupid as this sounds, I cannot find where the chassis battery is located? this is the Ford 450 diesel chassis. unfortunately I have no manual to help.
Any one have advice on where to look?

Re: 2005 Summit Chassis battery location
Chassis battery is under the ford hood no? Do you mean house batteries? I'm not sure where those are on a summit.
Re: 2005 Summit Chassis battery location
I think Todd is referring to the chassis batteries.
This is what I found.... no idea since I don't have the same type of rig... so take it with a block of salt.

Thanks for the ideas.. but there is no battery under the hood like the 25' model. I do not find any access on or under the passenger side doors... but will take a second look.
Anyone have access to a downloadable manual for the Summit 27' ??

Re: 2005 Summit Chassis battery location
The chassis information should be available on the Ford manual. I don't think the Chinook manual have much info on the chassis, such as the battery location, at least on my Concourse.
You may want to widen your net to the local Chinook RV club http://www.chinookrvclub.net/chinookmanuals.html as well as the yahoo group for the ChinookRVOwners. There are just not many Summit around, but the chassis information should be readily available.... maybe call the local Ford dealer and ask them about the battery?

Re: 2005 Summit Chassis battery location
When they say passenger door, they are talking about the sliding passenger door on a regular van, which is behind the cab. That would mean on the Summit, they would be approximately under and behind the side entry door and step. Here is a video showing the factory location on a regular van:Todd2005 wrote: July 22nd, 2019, 3:56 pm nope, battery is not under Passenger side door... and not under drivers seat. still looking... it has to be somewhere!

It looks like there are probably two batteries, mounted inside metal boxes, hanging off the frame. There may also be an external post outside the battery boxes to use for jump starting.

Re: 2005 Summit Chassis battery location
Well, I found that there are two group 65 batteries under the frame in the center of the chassis just off to the drivers side of the drive line. Could not make it much harder to get to. But st least I know where they arenow...
Re: 2005 Summit Chassis battery location
Thanks Clay for the reference video. That got me thinking in the right direction. I originally saw the boxes, but they looked more like tanks... and I thought no body would put battery boxes that far underneath... guess I was mistaken.
