In-dash Stereo Recommendations...

Looking to replace/upgrade the OEM dash stereo (2001 Ford E350 chassis). It needs to fit Ford's "pseudo" double-din radio slot (I'm sure an adapter kit will be needed). Basic features I'm looking for are: AM/FM, CD play, USB, and Sirius XM capable. Don't need nav, camera, iPhone, Android, or Bluetooth phone features. Except for the sat install kit, hoping for a somewhat simple plug and play install.
Real world owner install experiences, comments, suggestions appreciated. Thanks

I am looking to do the same so I will be following this. My wish list is a bit different as I would like to have a backup camera as well. I wonder if its possible to get a full time rear looking camera? Anyway it motivates me to do some research....

Your approach was what I was going to do originally. But decided to go with "stand alone systems". I have a TadiBrothers full-time rear view cam/monitor setup and a Garmin RV nav dash-top monitor. Each is positioned in the cab for me or my "co-pilot". Plus, the aftermarket stuff seems better engineered as it's own dedicated system, rather than bundled into one head unit. So, when one feature malfunctions and needs repair, the whole unit isn't down.

ps: some aftermarket head units have an on/off button for the built-in rear view camera allowing for full-time viewing depending on how they are wired at the reverse switch.

FWIW, I've had really great experiences buying from Crutchfield. Their site makes it super easy to get a compatible head unit, wiring harness, and adapter, with great instruction sheets even a n00b like me could follow. I've done that for 3 cars now, including my Chinook. I've heard good things about working with their staff for more custom solutions, too.

I am in same boat, would like to replace in-dash but want usb and apple play compatible. Also, will probably go seperate unit for back up but wanted wireless....anyone have experience with wireless backup camera's?

By the way, for coach I have a blue-tooth enabled mini-Bose that sounds great with iphone. Plus I can take Bose outside when sitting under the stars.

I'm in the same situation. There are several low priced options that amazon that look like they might work with decent reviews. They are cheap enough that if that its not a huge concern if its not that great.
