Installed Borg Duallyvalve tire stems
Took everyones advise and purchased a set of Borg Duallyvalve chrome solid valve stems for easy one handed air inflation and checking. They are awesome!! A little pricy but I purchased at 6 Roblees Rv Parts for under $100 to do all 4 rear wheels. Best part is my tire guy installed all 4 for only $25 dollars!!! Great investment and peace of mind and insurance.

As a footnote to getting my valve stems put in...even though the tire shop did a good job and only charged the $25 when I got home I checked the air pressure. I told one of the guys I wanted 58 psi. Well, one side had 58 and the other had 80!!!! They had 2 machines going and several guys working on it at one time. Someone didn't get the memo!! Also I could not break them loose with my 4 way lug wrench when I got home. Had to use my air impact wrench to break each one loose and then retighten with my torque wrench to about 145-150 foot pounds. Would have never changed a flat on the road.And one of my chrome valve stem caps had been replaced with a plastic one. Figured they just lost one. Maybe fell down in their tire machine. No big deal for what they charged me. Except I tried to put one of my other chrome caps on that stem and the threads seem to be messed up. Maybe that is why they only charged me 25 dollars!! I just wish they would have at least told me. That is the part that upsets me.

Overinflation and overtightened lugs would both really irk me. Hopefully they were more thorough with the stem installation. And how did they booger the stem threads? I'm guessing they used the plastic cap because it's softer and can be shoved onto bad threads.
When I speak with service advisors, I make sure that any special requests are in their system, and printed onto the work order that goes with the shop packet. That way it's up to the tech to make sure it's done correctly rather than receiving instructions which are shouted across the shop right before they go to lunch. Basically, if the requests are in the system, and they miss something, there's nothing to argue.
Tires can be tough, dirty, and unpleasant work, so I feel for those guys. But when all you do is tires all day long, you should be pretty good at it. No excuse. I got new tires on my pickup not too long ago and all twelve front lug nuts were loose. I didn't notice until I got on the freeway. So I guess too tight is better than not tight at all.

This is why I go through all the work myself now. Not that I particularly want to. But after hearing about, seeing, and experiencing enough messed up jobs, I just don't want the stress.
Of course I still don't have the machines. So then I do as Scott does. Make it very clear what I want, and that I'll check things before I leave.
The way I keep it to a minimum does take work on my part. I jack up the rig, remove one or two wheels at a time, bring them to the shop in another vehicle. I even put my own extended stems on (not hard, but precise) after they muffed up my buddies. Then I bring only the wheel and tire so they don't get my Chinook, my simulators (when I was running those), OR my lug nuts. I'm never going to be getting 250 ft. lb. lug nuts off on the side of the road. Side bonus: There's no attempt to glop the tires with that cr*p that then slings all over the body (they only do that when they have the vehicle).
But Flame: I don't care how little they charged you (presuming you didn't stand over them with a hammer demanding the lowest price), I would contact the manager and have this made right. I mean, what if you get a compressor that threads on? And besides, you need no specific reason.
Not that I'd be thrilled to have them work on my rig again. But if they had to I'd make sure it was the manager and stand over them like a hawk (a pleasant hawk). Or just have them buy you new stems and be on your way. Don't accept those trashed stems!

I have similar experience as Flame when I put the Borg valves on my dually. Over inflation to 80 psi on all *four* tires.
The thread on the stem is not very good. I got the kit and tested the threads before it was installed, and it is not cut with a die perfectly. I need to play with different caps and several attempt to get one pair that work good enough. I don't think it is your tire shop that ruined it.
Oh, BTW, mine also lost one of the cap. Maybe the tire guy I have is a twin brother of Flame's.
Now I need to figure out how to put the simulators. The Borg one does not fit like Tireman's and the angle prevent the simulators from sliding on.

Well that's annoying about the threads. I actually thought maybe the Borg valves would be better that the Tireman ones. I mean they are all chromed and shiny after all. I've had no issue with either air-through caps or plastic caps.
On the angle though: With the Tireman ones you have to put them in correctly or they don't "angle" right either. There is a mark if I remember correctly.
I had Tireman put my first ones on, so they were fine. Then next, my buddy had Discount Tire put a set on his E-450. Given what they often do to simulators, he removed them before going to the tire shop. That shouldn't matter since you put the Tireman stems on at a specific place (which you don't need the simulators to find). However, when he got home he found they had put them all wrong and the simulators didn't fit. He went back and had them put them on as specified, and no problem with the simulators.
So my question is: Did they put them on in the right position? If not, then even if they are bent correctly as they come from Borg, the simulators won't fit. I would then say they should be re-done.
(I later bought a new set of front rims and tires and it just ended up being easier to get new Tireman front stems and build up the new rims/tires before removing the old ones - I mounted the Tireman stems to the new rims myself, so I can confirm they had to "point" one specific way, which was in the instructions.)

Borg recommended the shop, so I assume they knew. The valves come thru the hand holes right in the middle, so the only thing they can mess up is how the straight long valves are pointing out. I am going to call Borg next Monday before I modify the simulators and see if it is something expected.

Oh, one other detail I remember, which is that on the rear stems, Tireman did bend them ever so slightly to fit them to the simulators (common practice, from what he told me). Being brass, you could do this (albeit carefully). This was a very minor amount though.
The front ones that I replaced later didn't need that (they are shorter), but they did have to be lined up as specified (I think he had a blue mark, and that went in a certain direction on the wheel).

I brought the rig back to the tire shop, and they bend the stems so that the simulators can go on there without problem. It was like half inch of offset after bending on both inside and outside stems. Hopefully there is no metal fatigue since it will not be easy to fix if the stem broke off in the middle of a trip.
