Hello and good afternoon everybody. This is my first post to this forum so I wanted to introduce myself. My name is Rich and I live on the central coast of Cali. I come to the forum baring a new to me ( from the original owner) a 2000 concourse with the Salem Kroger 4x4 conversion and a 7.3l diesel and 86k original miles. The unit has been in storage for several years so i am looking forward to going through the systems and getting its maintenance up to date. Looking forward to collaborating with fellow Chinook enthusiasts!

Posting wouldn't be fun without pics so here are some. I just got this about three days ago I am still crawling over it. It has been in storage for almost ten years now so some attention is due, major cleaning and function checking is next. Went digging through the factory docs. Cab chassis are 2000 Ford E350. Chinook coach was built in Jun 2001 and the unit was put together/ converted/sold in 2002. Found that interesting. I have seen 4x4s before but the 7.3l option seems to be more scarce than the v10 counterpart? unless your all hiding these from the public??

Hi Rich,
Very nice rig! Ours is the exact same color scheme, although in interior, we had the swivel club chairs and pull-out table (have since renovated and pulled them and table between out). You will find this forum a great resource. You will also learn that these little camper vans are very well made, and hard to come by these days. Have fun learning its ins and outs! -Michele

Thanks for the reply Michele! I had liked the way the club chair setup looked better than the dinette, but being a taller guy its a blessing having the dinette so it makes the larger bed. I"m glad somebody else has this color setup, For awhile looking at the pics I thought it was blueish, but now that I see it in person it looks more grey with black? Is there a real name for it?

I am confused. Won't that make your Chinook a 2001 Concourse instead?

It seems to be registered off the chassis so they call it a 2000. I just happen to look through the receipts and paperwork last night and say when the coach was made ( 2001) So yeah, I guess it would be correct to say the Chinook itself is a 2001?

Why Ford is making a 2000 model E350 on 2001? Maybe for the RV market, this is how it is done, but for regular vehicle, no one will want to buy a previous model year car. I assume you checked the VIN and it is marked as a 2000. (Like most people, a Chinook does not want to be advertise older than she really is).

Chassis is def a 2000. The chinook cert for the coach says built in 6/01. I can only surmise the chassis was ordered with the 7.3 maybe took awhile to deliver? Then once received they plucked a current body and stuck it on then sent it out to SK for conversion and by the time it was said and done the coach was delivered to the customer with current paperwork and booklets which are dated 2002?

Incomplete vehicles (i.e. E350 Cutaway) are sold to manufacturers who then upfit and sell as whatever year model it currently is. Kind of complicated when it's a smaller volume manufacturer like Trail Wagons, who converts to an RV, and then there's a 4x4 conversion done elsewhere.

Either way, it's a cool rig. The 4x4 7.3 Chinooks seem to be coming out of the woodwork right now!
